Each bird is hand carved by Yoneguma Takahashi and hand painted by Kiyoka Takahashi. They are miniature works of art. This particular bird is the Red-headed Woodpecker and a rather scarce Takahashi. It could be either male or female. They are not easily distinguished from one another.

Extremely Rare Takahashi Double Bluebird Bird Pin
This Takahashi pin is extremely rare and was made early in the Takahashi's long careers. The early body type with the fuller chests is evident in the these beautiful male Eastern Bluebirds. You can recognize them by their reddish chests. Both are beautifully hand painted and hand carved by Yoneguma and Kiyoka Takahashi. The copper wire legs and feet are perched on a small wood branch.
