Francesca Carnevali is a Senior Lecturer in
Economic History and Director of the Centre for
Birmingham and Midlands History at the University
of Birmingham. She has been with the University
of Birmingham since 1995. She completed her PhD
at the London School of Economics. Two years ago
she begain researching and comparing the jewelry
making districts of the early 1900s in Birmingham
(UK) and in Providence (Rhode Island, USA)and
continues to do so today.
